About Whispers of Magic

I've always believed that the world is a little more magical than we often allow ourselves to see. The stillness of a woodland at dusk, the glow of the moon through bare branches, the hush of a misty marsh at sunrise, or the brief moment when a hare pauses before disappearing into the long grass.

Those moments often pass in seconds, but they stay with me for much longer. These are the moments that inspire my paintings.

Working mainly in watercolour, I create gentle, atmospheric pieces inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of the South West, particularly the ancient woodlands, wild moorland and misty wetlands that have become places where I feel most at peace.

When I'm not painting, you'll usually find me with a camera or sketchbook in hand, somewhere beneath the trees or exploring the wild places of the South West. Many of my paintings begin not at my desk, but on a woodland path, a windswept moor or beside the quiet reed beds of a marsh.

I try to capture not just what I see, but how those places feel. My paintings aren't intended to tell a story so much as leave space for one. They're quiet moments, filled with moonlight, wildlife and a little imagination, inviting you to pause and look a little closer and imagine the magic that might exist just beyond what we can see.

The real subject is the feeling of standing in a place where the world goes still for a moment.

Every painting begins with the natural world, but somewhere along the way reality gives way to wonder. A familiar woodland becomes enchanted, a moon feels a little brighter, and an ordinary encounter becomes something quietly magical. The animals featured are guardians or witnesses within the landscape.

Many of my paintings are finished with delicate hand-applied gold accents, inspired by the way sunlight catches leaves, feathers and woodland streams. As the light changes throughout the day, these small details gently come to life.

Whether you've found Whispers of Magic because you love wildlife, woodland walks, folklore, or simply need a little more calm in your day, I hope these paintings bring a little quiet wonder into your home.

Through watercolour, photography and words, I share those moments, inviting you to pause, look a little closer, and rediscover the wonder that surrounds us.

Thank you for visiting.
